Winter Wonderland

Since winter is upon us here in Des Moines, I thought it would be timely to share some winter photos. Although, maybe you would prefer to see photos that remind you of warmer times. I love taking winter photos, if I can keep my hands and feet warm enough and my camera doesn’t get hold and freeze up. Northern Minnesota is a great place to take winter photos, especially when you can hop on a snowmobile. (Note: if you take photos while on a snowmobile, make sure you are riding with someone that’s okay stopping every 50 feet to take a photo.)

Where the path leads…

I think what I love about taking photos of paths and roads is that the person looking at the photo can decide where that path leads and what’s at the end of the line. It allows the viewer to step into the photo. It leaves a lot up to the imagination. Not to mention that they provide a great visual line for photos.

One of my favorite little models

I’ve taken photos several times for our friends who have an adorable little girl named Ellerie. I always say that if you have a cute model, you are bound to get some good photos. And Ellerie is the definition of adorable. It helps that her mom picks out the cutest clothes and hats and is always up for fun photo shoots. And her dad is great at making her laugh and smile.

Ellerie just turned one year old on November 24 and I was thrilled when they asked if I would snap a few photos. Here are a few of my favorites. Did I mention she is adorable?

   

Say Cheese!

I was recently inspired by a photographer friend to start my own blog and share my photos.  I’m not a professional photographer by any means, but I enjoy looking at life through a lens and seeing art in everyday things.  I like taking photos of children, pets, nature and anything (and everything) that catches my eye.

I love the thrill of looking through a batch of photos and seeing the ones that seemed to capture the moment just right.

One of my favorite places to take photos is at my parent’s place in Bemidji, MN. Below are some photos I’ve taken up there over the past year.  I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!
